The first natural gas fed 250 kW PEM fuel cell started operation in Berlin in June 2000. It is regarded as a milestone on the way to market introduction of PEM fuel cells and is pointing the way to a new form of decentralized energy supply.

Fuel cells can become a key element of the future hydrogen energy economy. With this website, we want to give a broad public a picture of it already today. In addition to the fuel cell, a photovoltaics system and an electrolyser give a practical impression of how hydrogen can in the future be produced without any emissions, and of how it can be consumed for energy purposes.

The exhibition "Fuel Cell Innovation Park" presents background information. An outdoor exhibition gives a view of today's energy supply system and presents a vision of tomorrow's energy supply. An additional specialized exhibition with real systems and products presents practical information on fuel cells.

This website presents detailed information on this European demonstration project, on fuel cells and on hydrogen.
